Shimano’s Torium 50e

The Torium overhead casting reel range has been yet another Shimano success story of recent years, and these high capacity overheads have now been joined by a bigger brother for the 2006/2007 season — the Torium 50.

This is the biggest star drag reel Shimano makes, and it holds 440 metres of 24 kilo line.

The Torium 50 is also an amazingly sweet casting reel for such a big unit and is going to prove popular with anglers slinging big live baits off breakwalls for jewfish, ditto for kingfish off the rocks, and when doing the deepwater thing using braided lines for everything from snapper to blue eye trevalla.

It has amazing big fish stopping power too, with a maximum drag of 15 kilos and a gear ratio of 4.9:1. The handle shank is adjustable and it has an ergonomic Power Handle.
