TCurve Bluewater Rods

A new addition to the TCurve Bluewater range for the 2006/2007 season is the King Mack series.

These rods have clearly been designed for casting, jigging, trolling and live baiting for big yellowtail kingfish and Spanish mackerel, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be used on giant trevally, mulloway, samsons, wahoo, dogtooth and yellowfin tuna, snapper, red emperor, coral trout — in fact any situation where a gutsy rod is needed to keep a fish clear of reefs and snags and keep it coming towards the surface.

There’s a spin stick and an overhead to choose from, and they are fitted with quality componentry including Fuji graphite reel seats, SiC guides for effortless, friction-free casting, and an extremely comfortable rubberised ‘Ripple’ fighting foregrip.

While Shimano’s chief rod designer, Ian Miller, has rated them for use with 8-12 kilo line, they are capable of handling much heavier lines than that, especially given that the trend these days is for bluewater anglers targeting the above fish species to be using braided lines from 15 to 30 kilo test.

The ground-breaking Travel Butt design that was so well received in last year’s TCurve Bluewater series is also feature of the King Mack additions — breaking the rod down to a more manageable 1.46 metres in length, yet not affecting the working curve in any way. This makes them ideal for anglers visiting those exotic tropical, fish-filled locations.
